How to spot a Liar
Gone are the days when people used to lay down their lives for the truth. Even in India with a diversified culture, a rich heritage and people having a passion for truthfulness the concept of ‘SATYAMEV JAYATHE’ (may the truth triumph)doesn’t hold good in the present scenario. Employees lie to their bosses, students to teachers, boyfriends to their girlfriends, wives to husbands, students to teachers and practically everyone is lying to one another left right and centre. Well, if that be the order of the day then people must be ready for it-given that the rates of lying is very high in my opinion one should be aware that the person he/she is talking to is lying or not. Here are a few tips that might just help to spot a liar.
1. Notice the movements-A liars movements will be stiff enough. Fewer hand movements and using up less space are the characteristic of liars.
2. Touching the face-Liars touch the lower part of their faces while talking.eg touching the nose and scratching the chin etc. This is instinctive. But this action has actually developed into less obvious actions.
3. Movement of the eye- Liars are afraid to look directly into the eye of the people to whom they are talking. They tend to look here and there while talking but not into the eyes of the person they are talking to. However looking into the eyes and talking for a prolonged period is also an indicator that the person is lying as liars have developed this habit overtime as a refuge against the rule.
4. Dilated pupils- Pupils tend to dilate when people lie. Severity of the lie can also be checked because the more severe the lie is the more drastic the lies are.
5. Expressions-A liar actually uses minimum expressions. For instance people who lie and are faking a smile they use selected muscles only whereas a natural smile uses muscles over the whole space.
6. Palms- Liars tend to hide the palms of their hands. Hands n the pocket as well as behind the back are also indicators that a person is lying.
7. Detailed information-People with dishonest intentions often add useless information to their conversation.
8. Tones- The gestures of a liar are not at all consistent with his/her tone of talking.
9. Sarcastic- Dishonest people often can use sarcastic tones and ways to answer while talking.
10. Nonsensical- The words of a liar often do not make sense and they speak grammatically wrong sentences. The reason being because a liar is lying he is constantly in search of an answer or a justification that is more convincing.
But it is extremely essential that the individual execution of these actions might not suggest that a person is lying. Most of the factors taken together might be an indication that a person is lying.
