For getting those six packs, you need to strengthen your abdominal muscles as well as lose body fat. The concept is actually quite simple, but putting it into action is definitely not simple at all. It will require true dedication, willpower, as well as patience and time to get a six pack. But in the end, remember that the effort is definitely well worth it. You may have the most toned and defined abs but they will not be six pack abs. Basically you need to do two things. One is Building muscle and the other is losing fat.

To Build Muscle, you need to do crunches. Lie on the floor and then cross your arms right in front of your chest. Now, slowly bend your knees up as far as you can. Never place both your hands behind your head as this can cause lower back problems in the long run. It may place unnecessary stress on that part of your body. An alternative is to cross your arms in front of your chest and then lightly place your finger tips behind your ears. Do not pull on your neck or through your nose. Now slowly raise your shoulders towards your knees, using strictly only your abdominal muscles. Never lift your entire back off the floor, as this may cause back strain, and this extended movement will not help you develop six pack abs any faster. The most important part of this crunch is the tremendous initial flexing of your abs as you will lift your shoulders off the floor.

How to Get a Six PackAs soon as you begin lifting off the floor start to exhale through your mouth, and end with a gasp as soon as your shoulders are off the floor. Now you need to pause for a second while you are at the top of the crunch and now you need to exhale the last bit of air from your diaphragm while you are flexing your abs. This proper breathing and flexing is what makes all the difference.
