A Rock Band! Yeah we’ve all had our flights of fancy, the lure of the fame, the fortune, the life, the parties, the girls, the electrifying shows, and the glamour!! Whoa! quite a dream. The girls would surround the college band guys. We definitely wished secretly that we could have a slice of the pie. But fear not, today we’ll see just how we could have made those college dreams come true and make sure the girl we liked would be impressed.
Bands started out as a groups of musicians who came together to express all that they felt was inside them; but those who took it as a seriously realized that it was more than just a bunch of people playing live or recording. A modern day band is more like a company with people who work seriously in every department. A band nowadays comprises of the core musicians, the manager, & the roadies.
The Manager of a band literally controls from contractual agreements between each member of the band to the endorsers, the whole crew, the shows offered etc. Its like the coach of a football team, when the team does well he’s lauded, when the team fails he’s the one who’s blamed.
The Roadies are the circulatory system of a band, they comprise of the technicians of each of the individual member’s instruments, the sound engineer, the standard crew who help set up the equipments, stage props, the personal security & even the driver of the band’s vehicle.
Now let’s see what should be needed to get the ball rolling. To form a band we need to get the musicians, individuals who are comfortable with all other members. When people have the same dream they can pursue it, so it’s important that they all agree to move to the same goal. One of the most important things to get this started is to decide on WHAT GENRE to play. The original scores determine the success of the band. Practicing together is also important and so is publicity.
Now that we’ve got a small rundown on the basic necessities to get a band up and running, its evident that like every other venture this requires a lot of patience, hard work and thought. Rock stardom definitely looks great but the underlining logistics are no simple thing. So like the AC/DC song says, it’s a long way to the top, if you want to rock ‘n’ roll!
